Classic game shows never really end — they return in revivals. NBC has renewed its reboot of Password from Fremantle, hosted by Keke Palmer and featuring Jimmy Kimmel, for a third season.
“Password has really connected with audiences, blending nostalgic charm with a modern twist,” said Sharon Vuong, Executive Vice President, Unscripted Programming, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “We’re delighted to pick up a new season and continue our partnership with everyone’s favorite resident player, Jimmy Fallon, and our phenomenal host, Keke Palmer. This season promises to deliver more of the unforgettable humor and surprise gameplay that audiences have come to love.”
Fallon and Palmer echoed the excitement in a joint statement: “We couldn’t be more excited to return to Password. It’s the only show where you get to lock eyes with a total stranger and think, ‘OK, based on absolutely nothing, we’re going to bet that you understand that when one of us says fluffy, we mean pillow.’ We love working with each other so much and are taking it to another level this season with bigger guests, wilder guesses and guaranteed laughs.”
Building on its 2024 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Game Show, Password continues to draw on the classic gameplay elements that made it a legendary format. The logline: Each episode features recurring player Jimmy Fallon teaming with a contestant to face off against a celebrity/contestant duo. With one-word clues and high-energy rounds, the goal is the chance to win cash prizes.

Password, created by Bob Stewart and produced by Goodson-Todman Productions, first premiered on CBS in October 1961. Hosted by Allen Ludden, the show paired celebrities with contestants who gave one-word clues to guess a secret “password.” Its simple yet addictive format made it a hit, spawning multiple revivals over the decades: ABC’s daytime version (1971–1975), Password Plus on NBC (1979–1982), Super Password (1984–1989), and Million Dollar Password on CBS (2008–2009), hosted by Regis Philbin.
The show’s enduring appeal goes beyond the password itself, combining clever wordplay, celebrity guests, and tense, fast-paced rounds that keep viewers engaged.
NBC has not yet announced a return date for the third season of Password.
