Char and friends have a nice meal.

With Japan’s excellent food, there are a number of ranking sites, and one of them has lent its mindshare to the original Mobile Suit Gundam.
Specifically, the ranking site is that of Hot Pepper, and this is not the first time they’ve done this. A few months back, they also did a Naruto collaboration as well as featured characters from Chibi Maruko-chan.
This one is very similar, initially showing Ramba Ral and Hamon leaving, with a table in the center holding host to Char Aznable and other Zeon officers (shown below).
Following the success of Gundam GQuuuuuuX, the original Mobile Suit Gundam is very much in the cultural forefront in recent months.
Although the voice here is the original Shuichi Ikeda, and not Yuki Shin from GQuuuuuuX.
Char has also been used to advertise cars, such as the Toyota Auris from a few years back (although it does not go three times faster than the base model, despite the red paint).
So this kind of thing is sort of part of the cultural background in Japan, but it’s still fun to see.
As for Hot Pepper, it’s not a bad ranking site, but as someone who has lived in Tokyo for over a decade, you really should take a look at Tabelog instead.
You can watch the original Mobile Suit Gundam over on Crunchyroll.
