Most pop songs only manage a lifespan on charts of a few weeks. The lucky ones rack up several months, and there are a handful of cuts every year that can hold on for 52 frames or longer across a number of important lists in major music markets. Then every once in a while, there is a tune that breaks out of the mold and becomes something of a generation-defining anthem, whether it feels like that at the time or not. A track’s continued popularity and longevity on weekly rankings is evidence of nonstop popularity, and Benson Boone is one of the very fortunate few superstars in the highly competitive pop space to claim such a win.
“Beautiful Things” helped him grow from a bubbling-under talent to a worldwide sensation, and even as his latest album and its several singles largely fall away, fans all around the world have not yet finished consuming “Beautiful Things” in huge numbers, especially in the United Kingdom.
“Beautiful Things” Returns to the Top 10
“Beautiful Things” climbs on multiple charts in the U.K. this week. The smash even manages to return to the top 10 on the Official Singles chart, which ranks the most consumed tunes throughout the country. This frame, “Beautiful Things” flips from No. 13 to No. 10.
82 Weeks on the Official Singles Chart for “Beautiful Things”
“Beautiful Things” earns its thirty-fourth stay inside the top 10 on the Official Singles chart as it returns. The track took about two months before it hit No. 1, and it spent a pair of turns ruling. “Beautiful Things” has now spent 82 weeks somewhere on the 100-space roster. The fact that such an old pop cut is not only still holding on, but managing to appear inside the most competitive region once again is remarkable.
“Beautiful Things” Almost Returns to the Streaming Top 10
As it finds its way back into the top 10 on the Official Singles chart, “Beautiful Things” almost accomplishes the same showing on the Official Streaming tally. On that roster, which only looks at the most played songs in the U.K. on streaming sites, “Beautiful Things” inches from No. 16 to No. 14.
Benson Boone Claims a Top 40 Bestseller Again
Purchases also help “Beautiful Things” in its ascent on the Official Singles chart, though the tune does decline on a pair of rosters focused entirely on sales this week. “Beautiful Things” drops to Nos. 29 and 30, respectively, on the Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales rankings. Unlike on the main songs roster and the streaming list, “Beautiful Things” never managed to hit No. 1 on either of those tallies. Instead, it peaked at No. 2.
“Mystical Magical” Follows “Beautiful Things”
Boone has two songs charting in the U.K., and both appear on the same four rankings. “Mystical Magical” is the newer of the bunch, as it has spent 16 weeks on each and every list, and yet it sits in lower positions than “Beautiful Things.” On the Official Singles chart, for example, “Mystical Magical” returns to the top 40, coming in 30 spaces beneath its predecessor.
