Coursera, the on-line education platform, has announced another expansion of partners and content.

Coursera, the on-line education platform and a pioneer of massive open online courses (MOOCs), announced today that it’s launching a large expansion of its content. The expansion includes six new university partners, six entry-level professional certificates, and a number of new courses focused on AI.
The announcement was made in a blog post by Coursera’s Chief Content Officer, Marni Baker Stein. “Today at Coursera Connect, our annual conference, we announced a major expansion of our partner network with several new world-class universities and forward-thinking industry leaders,” wrote Stein.
New Higher Ed Partners
The following six universities are becoming new Coursera partners, a list that now tops more than 350 institutions and companies:
In addition to these universities, Coursera announced several new industry partners, spanning businesses in healthcare and cybersecurity to generative AI, creative technology, and public policy. They include:
- Anthropic, a leading AI research company.
- AAPC, which claims to be the nation’s largest company for medical billing, coding, auditing, compliance, and clinical documentation.
- Skillshare, an on-line learning compnay providing educational videos with a focus on the arts and creativity.
- Harvard Business Publishing, publisher of Harvard Business Review content.
- International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), specializing in fitness, personal training courses and wellness
certification. - Pearson – a leading company for educational content and assessments.
New Professional Certificates and Courses
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a long-time Coursera partner, has launched four new courses focused on AI that can stack into Illinoisʼ online, for-credit iMBA and iMSA degree programs. The courses, now open for enrollment, are: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence; Advanced Topics in Artificial Intelligence; Blockchains, Tokens, and the Decentralized Future; and Emerging Technology, Disruption, and AI.
Coursera is also launching six new professional certificates designed to prepare students for high-demand jobs in emerging technologies. Most of the certificate sequences, which are now open for enrollment, require little or no prior experience and can be completed in under six months.
- AAPC Medical Biller — A four-course series preparing students for careers in healthcare billing by learning to process medical claims, manage reimbursements, and pass the Certified Professional Biller (CPB) exam.
- EC-Council Information Security Analyst — Five courses aimed at teaching students how to defend networks, investigate threats, and build other cybersecurity skills.
- Coursera Data Science Toolkit — A five-course sequence that will enable students learn how to use Python, SQL, EXcel, AWS, and Tableau.
- Microsoft SQL Server — Five courses that will prepare students to design, query, optimize, and secure SQL Server environments using GenAI techniques.
- Microsoft – R Programming for Everyone — Five courses covering data analysis and visualization skills in R using Microsoft tools, GitHub Copilot, and Azure integration.
- Microsoft – JavaScript Starter Kit — A five-course series on how to use Javascript to build professional web applications.

Coursera was founded as an online education platform in 2012 by Daphne Koller and Andrew Ng, two Stanford University computer scientists. According to the company’a website, more than 175 million learners at over 6,200 campuses, businesses, and governments have now accessed Coursera content.
