For the longest time, IFA was the event for Samsung’s Galaxy Note announcements. But over the years, it has moved away from mobile launches to larger-scale smart home product launches. From Phillips’ new MotionAware tech to Roborock’s first out-of-home product, a lawnmower, IFA 2025 has seen a few industry-first announcements. One of such products also includes the Midea Chill Master smart refrigerator, which introduces the industry’s first hands-free ice-and-water dispenser.
The Midea Chill Master sports a 4-in-1 dispenser. It offers cube ice, crushed ice, chilled water, as well as an ice-and-water mix with two taps. Here’s how it works: You can choose whether you want crushed ice, cubed ice, water, or a mix of ice and water, then put your glass on the base of the dispenser, and press the button.

The fridge then lowers the dispenser nozzle to fit your glass size (so there’s no spillage) and fills it up for you. I find moving parts in appliances cool and this one is made to keep things neat and clean while allowing you to do something else in the meantime, so you don’t have to stand there holding a glass to fill. The dispenser nozzle supports containers up to 25.4 cm tall. For reference, that’s taller than a Starbucks Venti cup and a tall pitcher.
The Midea Chill Master smart fridge comes equipped with a retractable Infinite Shelf, which allows you to minimize a shelf or reposition it with a one-press system. Plus, it features a compact SlimFoam insulation to maximize space without bulk, so the doors aren’t as thick as you’d expect.
Midea also announced Insta-Fit Master, Space Master and Smart Master series refrigerators. The Insta-Fit series is meant to “transform the fridge into a connected smart home hub for healthy, sustainable living,” while the Space Master series brings customers “more storage space without more footprint” in 443L design with a 130L freezer.
As for the A-Class Smart Master series, it is said to “redefine food storage with increased capacity, intelligent nutrition management and camera-augmented AI features.” It also brings customizable luxury aesthetics to your refrigerator. Pricing and availability details for Midea’s new products will be released later.
