Modern smartphones coming out of China sport a cell much bigger than their American counterparts. Thanks to silicon-carbon anode batteries, phone brands including the likes of Realme, Oppo, OnePlus, and more are offering bigger batteries than ever before. Honor and Vivo have launched phones with 7,000mAh+ batteries, while Realme showcased another concept phone with a 10,000mAh cell. In its new concept, which is claimed to be released sometime next year, Realme has stuffed a massive 15,000mAh battery in a comparatively slim form factor.
The new Realme concept phone packs a high-density battery and pushes the battery capacity to 15,000mAh — something that’s only possible on thick and heavy rugged phones right now. But unlike those phones, Realme managed to stuff all of this into a form factor that doesn’t look like a brick. In fact, it is claimed to be only 8.89mm thick.

For context, that’s just slightly thicker than mainstream flagship phones like the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max (8.25mm), Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (8.2mm), and Google Pixel 10 Pro XL (8.5mm). So the new Realme concept phone packs triple the battery capacity of the Galaxy S25 Ultra (5,000mAh), while measuring just 0.7mm thicker. Realme also highlights that its 15,000mAh battery concept phone packs a combined cell size of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16 (which equates to around 16,250mAh).
That said, there is one slight problem. Realme’s 15,000mAh cell consists of a 100% silicon-carbon anode, which is nowhere near mass production right now.
In comparison, today’s high-density battery-powered phones feature up to 10% silicon-carbon anode content. This is done because higher silicon content is more unstable and can result in more expansion and greater degradation over time. However, Realme says it could launch an actual phone with high battery capacity next year.
If the Chinese manufacturer reaches its goal, you could get a phone that’s rated to last up to four days of usage on a single charge. Realme says its new concept phone offers “18 hours of continuous video recording for creators and 53 hours of uninterrupted video playback for entertainment lovers.” If it delivers on these promises, this could mark a turning point in how long our phones can truly last.
